Meaningless Resolution

The UN Security Council has passed a Cease-Fire Resolution that adresses only a portion of the Lebanon-Israel issue, and failed to put any teeth in it. !5,000 members of the Lebanees Army along with a bolstered UNFIL force are to see to the "cease-fire. The Lebanees Army could do nothing about Hezbullah before the present conflict, and the UNFIL force has no authority to do much more then issue satements. Under 1559 Hezbullah was suppose to be dis-armed, instead they were supplied and re-enforced by Iran via Syria. What is the purposed resolution with its powerless over-seers going to accomplish.

At best lip service is going to be paid to a diplomatic solution in ending the current conflict. At its worst it will allow Hezbullah to rearm, and put Israel back into a situation where rockets once again can indiscriminately rain down on its civilian population. Anyone who does not consider this as terrorism needs to be medically examined and committed to a mental institution.

This resolution also does not address the cause of the present conflict, which is the return of the two Israelie soldiers who where kidnapped triggering the conflict. While there are supposed to be future resolutions coming from the UN Security council, I see no real peace or resolution to these issues unless a real multi-national force is put into Lebanon. It must be one empowered to stop supplies of arms from reaching Hezbullah, and also with the power and ability to dis-arm Hezbullah. That may mean being capable of conducting armed combat with this group, as i do not see Hezbullah willingly laying down their arms just because they are asked to.

Musings on the Middle East Conflict

It seems Syria couldn't handle the truth: In a meeting of the Arab League in Beruit today Syrian representatives walked out after casualty figures were revised down from 40 to 1 killed in an Israeli raid. Being ever full of bluster however they almost issued a challenge to Israel to attack them. Perhaps Israel should take them up on the offer.

Watch the posturing and politicing at the UN over the proposed cease-fire resolution. Arab counties want more favorable terms, and israel out of the territory it now occupies before a peacekeeping force is in place. they must think Israel is suicidal.

This has been the longest conflict Israel has been involved in since 1948. If the Olmert government can effectively neutralize Hezbollah, they will be hero's. If not this will be seen as a great victory for Hezbollah. Israel is loosing the war in the world press, and if it does not go back to days of old and bold moves by the IDF is in danger of also loosing the shooting war.

The big question is, even if a cease-fire is agreed to, who is going to disarm Hezbollah? That will open a whole new can of worms, as I and most people exercising common sense realize that Hezbollah will not willingly give up it arms. This will drag a whole new group of combatants into the fray, perhaps igniting the war no one really wants. We can either pay the price now or pay a much higher price later for not doing so.

Whats Next

As the IDF takes on Syrian and Iranian backed Hezbullah in Lebanon, the United States is about to enter the diplomatic fight of its life. You ask what I'm talking about? The Iranian ambassador to the UN announced today that Iran will step up its uranium enrichment program in defiance of the recent Security Council request, Syris is preparing for a regional conflict. This begs the question - What next? Russia and China have a vested intrest in selling technology to Iran. Most U.S. troops are commited in Iraq, and our military is woefully understrenght thanks to the "peace didvidend" initiative started during the Clinton era.

Forming up a coallition of the willing will be next to impossible, as world leaders in Europe and elsewhere are affraid of offending Muslim sensibilities. To take no action is not an option, but the UN has no way of enforcing its resolutions. Witness what happened leading up to the invasion of Iraq. If we wait much longer to take action, we will have already lost.

Where are the Teddy Roosevelts , Winston Churchills and Moshi Dyans of the world today? It may be harsh to say, but we need their type of thinking and actions now more then ever. The intellectual thinkers of today are to worried about what others will think, rather then what others will do. While we of the Christian faith are taught to turn the other cheek, we are also admonished it is a mortal sin to commit suicide. The world on its present course is headed for the latter, and I for one do not intend to be a victim of such foolishness.

Iran, Syria and other countries of their ilk must be dealt with as we deal with the terrorist they sponsor. No quarter given. Cut off trade, embargo good shipments, and if necessary use what force is necessary to make them see the light. Libya saw the hadwritting on the wall, it is time for the sponsors off terrorism and the terrorist groups to see it also.

Israel was very good at hunting down perpatrators on violence against it and its citizens it is time for the rest of the free world to read the play book and follow suite. If we do not we are doomed to repeat a past that was very unpleasant.

Know your Enemy

The first rule for any fight is to know who you are fighting. Since the attack on 9/11 we have heard many opinions on who we are fighting and why. We have also been told by some that this is a clash of cultures.

The latest "buzz word" is Islamafacists. This bears more scrutiny and study. Islamic appologists, state that Islam has been "hijacked", and that Islam is a religion of peace. The term "jihad" means struggle, not to make war. Nothing could be further from the truth. I took at face value these statements, until someone who's name I can not remember now said read the Qu'ran and you will see. I did just that, along with a few more source such as the Sunnah and Hadith which give accounts of Muhammad's life, and a history of early Islam. Some may find this offensive, but to say the least Islam is anything but a peaceful religion for active practioners of the faith. Its admonishments make it so. Do not take my word for it, check it out for yourself. You will then see that you are being lied to to your face.

A true believer in Islam and its teaching, if he or she follows the teachings of the Qu'ran is out to kill, rob and obtain anything a non believer has. Breaking ones word and lieing are perfectly acceptable when dealing with non believers to advance Islam. It is in the Qu'ran, and is carried out on a daily basis all around the world. Read the books and you'll see.

To any Muslims who may take offense at my previous statements, I urge you to take an objective look at these books and ask yourselves if this seem like honorable and acceptable behavior for a "prophet" and man of God. It may be time to re-exam your belief system.

All religions have their bad apples, but most do not actively advocate violence, and warfare as a means to obtain their objectives!

Combat

Much has been said concerning the current warfare in the Middle East. In particular the disproportionate response by Israel to Hizbollah's attacks. One must understand that no fight is ever fair. If response to attacks were proportionate, we would still be fighting any war that was ever started. One does not trade bullet for bullet, bomb for bomb. The nature of combat is such that to end a conflict by force of arms, or to bring the otherside to the table to negotiate a settlement, one must make the cause the other side loose the will to continue hostilities.

The primary means to affect such a decission on one side of a conflict is by either, damaging their infrastucture to the point it can no longer support the country, or inflicting so many casualties to its fighting forces that it no longer can field a fighting force capable of conducting warfare.
